For the past three years, Marci and Jeff have operated a small bake shop in their suburban neighborhood. Through their hard work and positive word-of-mouth advertising, the business has grown. Now Marci and Jeff are exploring ways to expand the business. They like their current location and have built a loyal customer base there, so they do not want to relocate. Since it is not possible to enlarge their current bake shop, they have considered opening a second location in another part of town. This would give their business exposure to new customers, but it would require them to lease space, purchase ovens and other equipment, and hire and train new employees. Also, one of them probably would have to move to the new location to oversee operations. Another option is for Marci and Jeff to sell their baked goods to other businesses in town, such as restaurants and small grocery stores, for resale to their customers. That option would allow both Marci and Jeff to remain in their current location, but it would require them to upgrade their current ovens and add additional employees to handle the increased production. They also would need to hire a salesman to contact local companies and purchase a delivery vehicle and hire a driver to deliver the baked goods to locations around town. Use the steps in the decision-making process to help Marci and Jeff decide which option to pursue.
What is the problem Marci and Jeff are facing?
What are the choices that Marci and Jeff must consider?
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each choice?
Which choice do you think is best for Marci and Jeff and why?
What should Marci and Jeff do once they have decided how they will expand their business?

marci and jeff are facing a stump in the road and they want to expand there buisiness and need a good way to increase profits. marci and jeff must consider which of the following decisions they have come up with would be the best solution to there problem. the advantage of making a new business would be that it would require less money but a disadvantage would be the partners splitting up which in turn could just ruin the business as they might work well with each other. the advantage of staying and expanding the business into catering is that the partners could stay in the same location. a disadvantage would be that they are taking a gamble with the funds they are using to make this new catering business. i think that since the business was setting off in that certain region that they should go with there second decision and hire a catering vehicvle/driver, as customers there already prefer them and it might not be the same on the other side of town. once marci and jeff have decided they should review there decision and perhaps find new/better things to help reinforce there decision.

1. They are trying to expand their buisness.
2.Open a new location or sell their bake goods to an another buisness.
3.1st choice, advantages arenew customers, disadvantges are they would have to spend alot of money on the lease, buying appliances and hiring people. 2nd choice, advantages they keep their same location but they would have to upgrade their appliances.
4.selling goods to other buisnesses because it would cost less money and they would earn money at the same time.
5. People will by their goods at other places and they will get more money and recognition.

the problem for Jeff and Marci is that they want to expand their business. Their choices of doing this are deciding wether or not to move their business to another location or try to expand their business by selling their baked goods in other restaurants. If they choice to move locations than it would make their business be more popular to new customers but they would have to buy new equipment and hire and train new people. If they decide to try and sell their baked goods in other restaurants than that means they would have to get salesman to contact other companies and purchase a delivery truck. They would also have to hire more people because of the increase int he production. this option would allow both Jeff and Marci to stay at the shop instead of leaving and going to work at the new shop. i think they should expand their business and have a shop on the other side of town. this would get new people interested in their business and it would give them a chance to get their name out on the street. Jeff and Marci should start looking for employees and start training them. They should also save money so they will have enough to buy the things they need.

Marci and Jeff are facing the problem of either moving to another location to expand the business to new costumer or stay input and expand through other companies. well I think if the two have no problem relocating in order to get new customers it be prefect to get another shop. They must think wisely about their decisions of places and the background of the region they choice. If Marci and Jeff is not willing to relocate building up their company by other companies is a perfect solution to their problem of wanting their busisness to expand. In this case they do not have to move and have to many varibles to worry about. As long as they continue to spread the good word about their products to other company and make sure that their are companies around them who are willing to buy their product. The best way to really decided is by thinking it through which situation fit them best.

Starting another business in another part of town would be good for the company, more people would go there, but they would have to spend money on new employees and equipment. Also they would have to slpit up alot for one to be in each store. They could sell their products to grocery stores, but they would have to remain where they are and hire a sales amn and delivery driver. I belive the better chioce is to to sell their baked goods to other stores. Its still alot of money but they would be spending less than they would if were to start another store. When they have made their decison, they should consider what to do in the furture and plans ahead of time.

What is the problem Marci and Jeff are facing?
A: The problem that they are facing is that they want to give the business more exposure but In order to do so they would have to open a shop in another location
What are the choices that Marci and Jeff must consider?
The choices that they must consider is whether or not to open up a new location, hire new workers, buy new equipment..etc
What are the advantages and disadvantages of each choice
The advantages are that the business would gain more exposure and and wider fan base by opening up a new location. The disadvantages are that the business will not be a promised success so they could invest money intoit...but who is to say if they make that money back
Which choice do you think is best for Marci and Jeff and why?
I think they should because in order to be successful in business you must take risk and i think its a risk worth taking
What should Marci and Jeff do once they have decided how they will expand their business?
I think they should just go with that plan 100%

Marci and Jeff wants to expand their buisness but they realize how much trouble that is going to cost them. Marci and Jeff must consider choices such as where to expand the bakery in town, how many ovens to buy, and how many employes to hire..... The advantages of expanding the bakery is that that it expands buisness, which brings in more costumers which brings in more money....The disadvantages of expanding the bakery is that if they do and they dont get as much customers as planned they losse a tremendous amount of money...with that being said they wont be able to pay their employes or their lease therefore being put out of buisness...I think the best choice for Marci and Jeff is to relocate to expand their buisness ...why? for one if they have enough costumers at the bakery now to fulfill the need of money to keep it open and make enough profit to open a new shop then why not expand the buisness....If the bakery i doing well there then odviously people like their products and more people will.....More costomers mean more money which also means more profit....Once Marci and Jeff have decided how they will expand their buisness they need to figure out where to expand it and start the operation...

1. Expansion 2. Relocate or Upgrade 3. Relocate- Buy the space, Purchase more equipment, hire employees and the two of them would have to seperate. Upgrade- Purchase better equpiment, hire more employees and a salesman. 4. Relocate would be the best because they would gain twice as many customers than they already have. 5. Act on it.

Marci and Jeff are facing either relocating or taking their business into local stores. The choices that they face are expxanding their business by opening another store or sell their baked goods in stores and resturants. Opening another shop would require one of them to move. Also they would have to furnish this shop, buy new ovens, and hire staff. Selling their goods in stores they would also have to hire drivers and helpers. They would have to buy a delivery truck and upgrade on their ovens. Whatever they choose they will have to spend alot of money. Having their own shop they will get the profit after paying the staff and bills. Having their products sold in stores would they have to pay the driver, pay on the vehicle, but they also have to pay the stores and such that they are selling their goods in. once they decide what to do they should contact the right people.

The problem Marci and Jeff are facing is them trynig to expand their business without spending too much money.
One option Marci and Jeff considered was opening a second location in a another part of town. Another option was to sell their bake goods to other businesses in town.
The advantages would be giving their business exposure to new customers. The disadvantage would be spending more money on the second location for their business.
The best choice i think is for Marci and Jeff is them selling their baked goods to other businesses because you wouldnt have to spend as much money.
Once they have decided how they will expand their business they should continue to get money.

1. expanding the business
2. relocating ,opening a second shop, and selling the good 2 other business
3.the disadvantage of relocating to a new place meaning thats it's possible to lose old customer.advantage is that they are reaching out to new people.
disadvantage of opening a secind shop is that thet would have to hire and train new people also marci and jeff would hav e2 split up and work in diffrent shop.advantages of opening two shops is that they reach new people custmers and still keep theirs old ones.
the disadvantage of selling the goods to other businessis that the will not get all the profit they make out of the deal.they will still have to hire and train people to help make the stuff in the bakery and deliver
